Senegal has been in a tense situation for three days. At least 15 people have been killed in the recent clashes.
These people were killed during violent clashes between security forces and demonstrators who are still protesting against the sentencing of opponent Ousmane Sonko to two years in prison.
“Firearms should only be used to protect one’s own life and the life of others. We have not seen this kind of situation in the various elements that have circulated in social networks and on television. Admittedly, the protests were violent, but the use of force exceeded all limits,” said the executive director of the Senegalese branch of Amnesty, Seydi Gassama, reports RFI.
This escalation of violence could intensify if the convict is not released.
